Retain public space for public use

$0.00

I would like to see Hunters Hill Council’s most precious assets kept in public hands. We should not alienate public land lightly, and where we need to sell non-remnant land, use mechanisms like long-term leases to ensure the land reverts to the public over time.

Where we seek to monetise our holdings to improve our financial position I would like to see that we do so in order to improve public access and use for all. This means ensuring funds are directed back to the land, like directing any sale of the rear of Fairland Hall to fixing up the hall as set out in previous Community Strategic Plans.

We need to reverse the decline in public access, by removing illegal barriers and signs that have encroached on public land, restore paths that give access through public space, and connect space up to make it useful as a public recreational and access path.
