I am very proud to have championed and directed Hunters Hill’s Integrated Transport Strategy while a community representative on council’s Movement and Transport Committee last term.

However, we need to do more to turn this strategy into action, including fostering good ideas when they are proposed. Here is an idea that has been given to me - would you support it?

If so I will take it to council to investigate and/or lobby TfNSW…

Better Buses?

Proposal

Redirect the 538 to terminate at North Ryde (from High St via Pittwater Road), a 25 minute journey that also provides access to the Buffalo Creek Reserve area.

Introduce a [508] ‘shuttle’ service from Woolwich to Gladesville (via Ryde Road) - like the 538 minus the Boronia Park loop, to reduce the journey time to 20 minutes.   Alternatively this could be a community bus, like the ‘Mosman Rider’.

This proposal would reduce the 30 min gaps in peninsula bus services during morning peak to 10 minutes, and could particularly target the 7 - 7:30am school peak currently served by only 2 buses 30 mins apart, reducing the need for private and public buses to go down the peninsula during these busy times.

Do you support the proposal?
