I am very proud to have championed and directed Hunters Hill’s Integrated Transport Strategy while a community representative on council’s Movement and Transport Committee last term.

However, we need to do more to turn this strategy into action, including fostering good ideas when they are proposed. Here is an idea that has been given to me - would you support it?

If so I will take it to council to investigate and/or lobby TfNSW…

Better Buses?

Proposal

Redirect the 538 to terminate at North Ryde (from High St via Pittwater Road), a 30 minute journey that also provides access to Barons Crescent and Buffalo Creek Reserve. Trips to Gladesville could be made more directly by exchanging buses at the corner of Ryde Road and Park Road instead.

Remove the High Street loop from the 252 route, to reduce the total travel time by 4 minutes. This brings nearly the entire route within a 30 minute trip of North Sydney (currently only the Boronia Park side falls within this time), aand serving Woolwich to Gladesville, with an interchange to the 505 and new 538 at Hunters Hill Shops.

Potential for HHC to introduce a mini ‘shuttle’ service to Gladesville (via Ryde Road)- a small community bus to serve the Venus Street community and Boronia Park area, like the ‘Mosman Rider’.

This proposal would improve transport access for most people in Hunters Hill by connecting to North Ryde Metro, and reduce travel times for people to Gladesville by replacing a single runabout service with a simple interchange.

Do you support the proposal?
